Question by jobseeker: is the farmers agent opportunity a scam?
1 – i went to the first interview and everything seemed very attractive in the opportunity and what they had to say. however, im skeptical becuase when i asked the district manager what where the key marketing stratagies used to create leads in insurance sales i felt like he completley dodged the question and didnt answer it at all. he said something like it was relationship based and then something like he had some networking meetings he would set me up with. then again maybe he is just not telling me the full details because he doesnt want to let out the companies “trade secrets” to the business.
2 – i also asked him what seperates farmers from the other competitors in the industry and i feel like i didnt get a clear answer again. he said something like farmers is a reputible company with no complaints.
3 – there is one website i found that claims it is a scam:
http://www.farmersinsurancegroupsucks.com/farmersinsurance_agent_employee.htm
however, this could be just one person looking to get back at farmers because they couldnt make it in the business.
4 – i wonder if there are any legal cases with misrepresentation or similar actions against farmers for this opportunity

wow, that website just tore them up, huh. Okay, well, Farmers, just like any insurance company, hires a bunch of people (2/3 of them won’t make it, just like any sales organization) and you are expected to sell. If you don’t, they fire you. Any sales organization is going to expect you to push, push, push. I had Farmers ins for a while, and my agent told me he just went about door to door when he first started.
