Now that our combat mission in Iraq is officially over; what’s the final tally & what the heck did we achieve?

Question by < I >: Now that our combat mission in Iraq is officially over; what’s the final tally & what the heck did we achieve?
.

Here are some sobering “statistics” (so far!):

— 7 wasted years (yes, so far; apparently, we’ll continue to maintain a 50,000 strong presence — for Iraqi security forces training purposes — until December of 2011!);
— Close to $ 1 trillion directly down the senseless tubes of war, while our own economy continues in shambles;
— It did NOT put a dent in terrorist activities;
— Over 100,000 Iraqi’s (mostly innocent civilians) dead; and countless others maimed, caught in the crossfire, made homeless, and psychologically destroyed for life;
— Over 4,400 American troops dead (not counting those from the “international” coalition)
— During the span of the last 7 years, over 1,5 million troops (men and women) have served in Iraq (with a peak of 171,000 soldiers stationed at any given time);
— Over 30,000 soldiers have returned with grave physical injuries and/or psychological trauma/scars;
— It’s estimated that 30% of all soldiers who have made it “back” are suffering from severe psychological problems with lifelong consequences;
— According to the publication “Military Medicine”, 62% of the soldiers who’ve made it out have required intensive psychological intervention, 6% are suffering from PTSD, and 27% have become alcoholics! :-(

And yet, W and Cheney are still walking around FREE as a bird; immune as ever to the deadly consequences of their BIG FAT F LIES!

@ That guy who is Awesome: I wonder why we don’t spend trillions of dollars, going after other nasty dictators; in the poverty stricken corners of the African continent, for instance??? … Who knows, that might “originally” work out nicely, too!!!

We originally went in there to stop Saddam. That worked out nicely.
